TAMIO One-on-One Mentorship

TAMIO One-on-One Mentorship Program

The TAMIO One-on-One Mentorship Program is a year-long professional development experience designed to connect municipal communications professionals across Texas through meaningful, one-on-one mentoring relationships.

Whether you’re looking to grow as a leader, navigate new challenges, or share your expertise with the next generation of communicators, this program provides a structured yet flexible opportunity to learn from one another.

TAMIO will select 10 mentor-mentee pairs for the 2026-2027 One-on-One Mentorship Program. To ensure meaningful relationships and individualized support, participation is limited to a small cohort each year.

Mentees are thoughtfully matched with experienced mentors based on their professional goals and leadership interests. Throughout the program, participants will meet virtually on a regular basis, participate in quarterly leadership coach check-ins, and build relationships that often extend well beyond the formal program.

Why Apply to Be a Mentee?

No one has all the answers, and you don’t have to navigate your career alone.

As a mentee, you’ll be paired with an experienced municipal communicator who understands the unique opportunities and challenges of our profession. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your leadership skills, build confidence, navigate difficult situations, or prepare for the next step in your career, your mentor will provide guidance rooted in real-world experience.

You’ll also expand your professional network, gain new perspectives, and develop a trusted relationship with someone who is invested in your success.

Why Apply to Be a Mentor?

Your experience can make a lasting impact.

As a mentor, you’ll have the opportunity to help another municipal communicator grow professionally while sharing the knowledge and lessons you’ve gained throughout your career. Mentoring is also a rewarding way to strengthen your own leadership, coaching, and communication skills while giving back to the profession.

As part of the program, you’ll receive support from a leadership coach who will provide guidance, resources, and best practices to help you become the most effective mentor possible. Whether you’re mentoring for the first time or have years of experience, you’ll gain valuable coaching skills you can carry into your own career.

The program creates meaningful connections between professionals across Texas and helps ensure the continued success of our municipal communications community.
